I really wanted this to work with my new (2011) HP Pavilion dv5. Many reviews I read said that it would be compatible. Once I had both the docking station and my new notebook I could see that there wasn't a docking slot on the bottom of the notebook. Thinking that maybe I had to remove a panel or something I called HP tech support, who after some confusion read off a statement that "Yes your notebook is compatible, just set it down on the docking station." Needless to say that didn't work. I was able to send the docking station back to TigerDirect, but had some confusion too. At first the representative said they would issue me a shipping label and I could return for free--after over a week with no label emailed to me I contacted them again. This time the representative said that they would be glad to accept my return, but since I bought through Amazon I had to pay for my own return shipping. Wish I new that before. So I have sent back to TigerDirect and am waiting on a refund, probably minus shipping both ways so I'll be out $30. Wish I had know that the new models of HPs apparently are now going to being only compatible with USB type docking stations.
The docking station worked well, was much less expensive than HP's price and it arrived much sooner than I expected!
