The iLuv iMM727BLK speaker dock is a descent set of speakers. The iLuv App and the Remote Control, however, are a little disappointing. I have evaluated the Speakers, the iLuv App, and the Remote Control separately. First, the Speakers:

The speakers measure roughly 11" x 5" x 3.5" (L x W x H).
The sound quality of the speakers is comparable to that on a set of low-end desktop speakers. Although the bass output is a bit lacking, it's entirely acceptable coming from speakers this size. The speakers do buzz a little when the volume is cranked up all the way but, again, that's almost a given on any smaller-sized speaker system. All in all, the sound quality on these speakers isn't bad.
The speakers look very aesthetically pleasing (they look wicked on my nightstand!). I do realize that this speaker system functions primary as a dock for the iPhone/iPad, but I'm disappointed that they are not rechargeable for cordless/portable operation.
iLuv App (Version 3.0.6)

After you plug in your iPhone/iPad for the first time, you'll be prompted to download and install the iLuv App. The app consists of Clock, Weather, Radio, and iPod functions, selectable with a menu of choices on the bottom of the screen.
There are a few problems with the app that are noteworthy:
o It crashes periodically.
o Once the | button advances past the last song of an album, it displays a blank screen. Pressing the |<< button does not backtrack the player to the previous song. Sometimes, after advancing past the last song of an album, it switches into shuffle mode and plays the next random song.
o The App cannot be fully controlled by the remote control. More about this in the next section:
Remote Control

The remote is very compact, which makes it really handy. It measures merely 2.5" x 3.75" x 0.25". It has 11 buttons (On/Off, Mute, Up Arrow, Down Arrow, |<<, ||, |, Menu, Enter, - (Volume Down), and + (Volume Up)). Here are some of its advantages and disadvantages, denoted by the (+) and (-) signs, respectively:
(+) Full Functionality On The iPod App
You can fully control the built-in iPod app with the remote. You can, for example, use the Menu button to cycle through Playlists, Artists, Songs, Videos, Albums, Audiobooks, Compilations, Composers, Genres, iTunesU, and Podcasts, and then use the Up and Down buttons to make your selection.
(-) Limited Functionality On The iLuv App
On the iLuv app, the ONLY buttons work on the iLuv App are the On/Off, Mute, |<<, ||, |, Vol. Up (-), and Vol. Down (+) buttons (7 of 11 functional buttons). The limited set of functional buttons means you can't select the Album or Playlist to play -- which is just as well since you should steer clear of iLuv app due to its limited functionality and quirky behavior.
(-) In the iPod app, the Menu button cycles through the Menus in only one (namely, Forward) direction. If you inadvertently miss the Menu you intend to select, you have to cycle through the choices again; there is no "Back" button.
(-) Slow/Quirky Response
The remote exhibits some quirks on both the iLuv and iPod apps. For example, if you press the | button too fast, it may advance the player to the next song, repeat the current song, or plain refuse to respond. What a pain.

Performance-wise, these speakers are slightly better than the run-of-the-mill speakers. But, to be honest, for the price, I expected a bit more. Would I recommend these speakers? Well, I suppose as long as you're looking for a set of speakers that are comparable in performance to a basic set of desktop speakers and if you don't mind putting up with a few quirks, these speakers will do fine.

Got this as a christmas gift from my wife after she saw me drooling over it on TV. What a disappointment this product was. Put my iPad2 on the dock and downloaded the iluv app. Fired up the iluv app and I get a message on the bottom saying no volume available. I looked at some of the reviews to check if I had done something wrong and noticed a few people had a similar issue. I tried various ways to make this thing work and nothing happened. What a waste of money. I even tried an iPhone, and iPod with the same results. Had to return the item and not really interested in replacing it with the same product.
