This is one of the type of devices that I now wonder how I lived without previously. Being able to quickly swap internal hard drives to transfer data, reformat, etc, makes having a hard drive dock very useful for my set up, and this is by far the most stylish one I've seen. The dock is draped in a thick layer of brushed aluminum and looks very sharp in person. That coupled with the fact it's worked perfectly from the time it's been plugged in (tested on pc and mac) makes me very happy with my purchase. Pay the extra $10 for this unit, it's worth it for its looks. Highly recommended.
Unpacked, and found out why they don't mention the lenght of the USB cable in the description or specs - it is 3 feet long. That's dissapointing. It's hard to take any product seriously that doesn't come with standard length cables. You can buy any device that comes with a cable and it comes with a standard 6' cable, whether it be power, USB, firewire, audio, etc.
3' is useless - just something to add more trash to the earth.
I now have to go out in the rain and buy a 6' cable, then I'll update my review.
